59 El Camino

                                                                                                                      1959 Chevrolet El Camino

Today was a pretty productive day we all got a lot done kicked off at 6am wound it up at 530pm, all the work on the ute was nearly completed and actually got a fair bit done also on old mates new project as well as in a 1959 Chevy El Camino, I thought it would be a great idea to add another page on it's progress and I know of quite a few out there interested in it's progress so here goes plus it adds more content and as far as im concerned thats a good thing.

The El Camino has been sittin for sometime now as no time to work on Yowie far to busy so today it was decided we pull the body off the chassis and align 4 point rear as it is booked in for a bath, the whole body will be submerged in Molasses for 2 weeks to dissolve the rust the old paint will be left intact, there is a fair bit of rust in the old girl 51 years of it to be exact.

Tryin to get the whole thing off without damaging anythin bein very careful not to knock any rust outta it :-) it helps when ya got a Palfinger as well of course.

Now simply roll out the chassis, NOTE always wear good quality safety thongs when doin this sort of work my "safety thongs" are constructed of only the finest quality Chinese rubber money can buy.

Could not load properly onto trailer as we ran outta jib on the crane so the easiest way to get it central on the trailer was to reverse it into a tree and push it on!! off to the bath to soak for 5 weeks not 2 as i previously said- swiss cheese when it returns no doubt.

The engine arrived from the US last week it is a Chev 396 Stroker good for 500+ Hp (this one anyway) it runs roller rockers/ cam, Trick flow heads, lightened pistons, Edlebrock manifold, 750 Demon carb, Comp cam, balanced crank, and decked block of course, this engine is NOT a crate motor, it has been run in and dyno'd from the factory.

Originally was goin to go for the 572 Big block (below) but settled on the 396 Stroker what ever engine it will propel that ute along real nicely.
